Created in 2020 in La Plaine district of Marseille, SOMA is a hybrid art centre, hosting a radical programme that brings together plastic arts, performance, dance, music and video art.

It is a territory to be invested, placing at its centre the invited artists and researchers who are encouraged to reinvent the place with poetry and thought, whatever the chosen medium.

Its raw and empty space questions the idea of necessity in the act of creation and proposes to the residents a return to an experimental approach, a space-time conducive to experimentation, a re-evaluation of the processes of producing work.
SOMA is also a bar, designed as an interface and a tool for decompartmentalisation. By hosting conferences, debates and screenings, as well as more festive events such as DJ sets and concerts, it opens up to the territory it involves. It is inventing a new space for living and sharing, which promotes access to knowledge in order to allow everyone to take part in the invention of tomorrow’s world.
Since its creation, SOMA has hosted Kubra Khademi, Fanni Futterknecht, Jenny Abouav, Ben Saint-Maxent, Gaël Depaw, Laurence Wasser, Thomas Laigle, Arthur Eskenazi, Hamid Shams, Zone négative, Souci du drame…
