Born in Marseille in 1977, André Fortino is currently a doctoral student at the Université du Québec à Montréal, working on a research project entitled: Engager le souffle. Émancipation en performance du Theyyam au Black Bloc.
His artistic practice spans many media: video and film production, performance, painting, drawing, sculpture and installation. He has enjoyed significant visibility in France thanks, among other things, to the exhibition Rendez-vous 2012 at the Institut d’Art Contemporain during the Lyon Biennale, and internationally with the solo exhibition Hôtel Formes Sauvages at the Darling Foundry in Montreal in 2015. More recently, he has produced a solo exhibition at the FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and a performance for the ACTORAL festival in Marseille in October 2019.
